Healing for Rocky: A Family’s Fight Against Rare Challenges

Hi, my name is Breanna, and I’m starting this GoFundMe for my cousin Mitch, his partner Madasyn, and their baby boy, Rocky.

As a close family member, I’ve witnessed the incredible strength and love they’ve shown during these challenging weeks. Rocky was born with Pierre Robin Syndrome, an underdeveloped trachea that may require a tracheotomy in the coming months, and 11 pairs of ribs instead of the usual 12. Despite these obstacles, Rocky is living up to his name—he’s a true fighter, meeting each hurdle with incredible resilience and bravery.

Mitch and Madasyn are doing everything they can to support Rocky’s recovery while caring for their older son, Krue. Between surgeries, NICU stays, and the possibility of future procedures, the financial burden has been overwhelming. I wanted to step in to help alleviate some of the stress so they can focus on what matters most—Rocky’s health and their family.

UPDATE:

Rocky has gone through surgery, they did mandibular distraction osteogenesis. Essentially they attached to stainless steel brackets to the jaw, one near the ear canal where the lower jaw hinges and another on the jaw that forms the jaw line. They then cut between these two brackets, effectively detaching the jaw from the skull. They now attach a detractor which is like a socket wrench and each turn extends the jaw. Their goal is 20 mm or 2 cm of extension.

Rocky is currently at 13 cm of distraction. Immediately after surgery and for the following 6 days Rocky was on a ventilator to help him breath and given morphine continuously along with a whole cocktail of other things for sedation and pain.

He now has quite an underbite, looks like a little old man, he’s going through some withdrawals for the pain meds because they took out his ventilator three days ago, and put him on a cpap machine two days ago, and now yesterday did a natural breathing trial which he has done really well on. So currently just a feeding tube and his picc line.

The journey continues! Thank you all who have supported and donated so we could be with Rocky while not worrying about bills and normal life. Love you all
