Healing Trauma In Nepal

Tax deductible
Please help keep an impactful organization continue its healing work in Nepal.  Funds have run out and Nepali people are urgently in need of our support.

Since 2009, Acupuncturists Without Borders (AWB), a non-profit organization providing community trauma relief, has worked hard to set up various ongoing ear acupuncture clinics in Nepal to serve women and children victims of domestic abuse, sex and organ trafficking, slavery, torture, substance abuse, and disaster relief after the 2015 earthquake.

In February, I had the opportunity to provide ear treatments at two of these clinics.  All AWB clinics use NADA protocol, which consists of 5 points in each ear that work harmoniously together to regulate the nervous system, allowing one's mind, body, and spirit to function in a more healthy balanced state after trauma or distress.  It's a simple treatment, using either acupuncture needles, or ear seed stickers that do not puncture the skin, yet still stimulate the points.

The first clinic I visited was SAATHI Women's Center.  Two other local acupuncturists and I treated women and their kids who were victims of domestic violence and trafficking.

After watching his mom and the other women receiving treatments, one of the boys asked for ear seeds as well.  Then his little toddler brother excitedly said he wanted some too!

The second clinic I visited was SAATHI Children's Center, which provides shelter and support for boys coming from abusive homes or poverty.

It was heart warming to see this group of teenage boys encouraging each other and enjoying their treatments.

At both centers, I was told how valuable the ear treatments have been to the women and boys.  Frequent treatments produce optimal results, and they look forward to the acupuncturists' visit each week.  The benefits they have experienced range from sound sleep and decreased physical pain to reduced anxiety and stress, and overall peacefulness and positive outlook.  During my visit, the women and boys were engaging and warm-- happy to be in this community.  It's hard to imagine the extreme mental state of desparation and despondance many of them were in upon arriving to the center.  The influence of these treatments were very apparent and I left the centers feeling hopeful and inspired.

But after returning from my trip, I recently learned that funds to keep this program in Nepal going have become depleted.  Having experienced first hand how successful and healing the ear treatments have been at these centers, I very much want to see the program continue.  The Nepali people are so grateful for the healing clinics, and urgently asking for our help.  It takes $6,000 for AWB to keep the Nepal program running for one year, and we are hoping for donations as soon as possible, as the ear clinics have had to stop.

With support from AWB and the US, we can continue to empower Nepali people through this universal healing method, and assist many of them who are eager and dedicated to develop and create more clinics and programs.

Please see the following link and video for more information regarding the wonderful program AWB has developed in Nepal and learn how influential your donation will be to these communities.
