Healing for Denise – A Mother’s Strength, A Community’s Love
Spende geschützt
Hi everyone,
I never imagined I’d be writing something like this, but life has a way of surprising us in the most unexpected ways.
A few months ago my mom, Denise Curtis, was diagnosed with the "C" word, (c*ancer; we hate to even say it.) Hearing those words was devastating and felt like having the floor ripped out from under us.
Since then she's started chemotherapy, which is extremely physically, emotionally and financially draining, but she's fighting as hard as she can every day.
Unfortunately, while she's focusing on healing, the medical bills are piling up faster than she can handle. Insurance helps, but it doesn’t cover everything. Between co-pays, medications, transportation to treatment, testing, and basic living expenses, it’s overwhelming to say the least. Each chemo treatment costs her $800 out of pocket and she's currently scheduled for 24 treatments.
The treatments make her very tired, sick and weak and it's difficult for her to even function most days. With my stepfather being disabled she needs more help than most. Me, my sister, a few family members and neighbors have pulled together to help with lawn care, chores, grocery shopping and anything else we can help with. We do our best to help cover some costs, but it's nowhere near enough.
That’s why I’m turning to this community with a humble heart and asking for help. Every donation, no matter how small, will go directly toward covering treatment-related expenses and helping her stay afloat while she fights this battle. If you’re not in a position to give, please share this campaign, it means so much to us.
Sickness is hard. Asking for help is hard. But I believe in the kindness of people, and I’m holding on to hope with everything I’ve got. Anyone who knows my mom knows she'd give the shirt off her back for anyone; she's very kind, empathetic and a giver. I remember as a child, her helping stray animals and doing sweet things for the elderly at a rest home my cousin worked at; she'd make them homemade food and at Christmas she'd get her keyboard and take my sister and I to the rest home to sing Christmas carols for them, talk with them and hug them to bring them joy and let them know they are loved. My mom is a giver through and through and with your help, I'd like to help her with her bills to give her some much needed relief and peace of mind.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading this and for standing by us.
With Love and Gratitude,
Dani
