Because every single one matters.

From rescuing my very first dog from dog fights in Mexico, I knew I wanted to dedicate my life to helping animals. I’ve always cared deeply for them—feeding stray squirrels, birds, and loving my soul dog, Rocky, who came from an unwanted litter. Rocky’s love showed me how special rescue animals are and gave me the strength to keep fighting for them.

Recently, I met Flint at the Carson Shelter. He survived abuse, was fighting cancer, and was about to be put down. I couldn’t bring him home, but I stayed by his side to give him comfort. I also had the joy of loving Miss Honey , who I adopted for a short but unforgettable time. Their stories lit a fire in me to do even more.

That’s why I’m taking the next step: enrolling in a veterinary technician program. This program costs $18,000, and while I’ve been approved for a loan, it only covers part of it. The director worked with me to reduce my down payment to $1,000 (plus fees), and my first payment is due September 7th, but I’m determined to make this work.

I’m starting to volunteer at Carson Animal shelter and pursuing this program to gain the skills to help more animals—not just here, but also in underserved communities like the one I grew up in.
