Welcome to the "Healing Days Campaign for Cassie.” My name is Summer Weaver, and it is my great privilege to advocate on behalf of my darling cousin, Cassie Wolfe. For a bit of background, on October 19, 2023, Cassie collapsed from sudden cardiac arrest due to what was discovered to be a genetic heart condition. As a result of the cardiac arrest, Cassie also suffered from a stroke and a traumatic brain injury. Cassie lay in the hospital for months and was unconscious for many weeks. We watched and hoped but did not know if and how Cassie would be when she woke up. Cassie's mom says it best when she describes those days. They were "Weeks of waiting by her bed. Holding her hand. Stroking her cheek. Waiting. Silently begging, willing her to wake up. Those were such long, agonizing days."
Cassie did wake up and has bravely fought through some of the most difficult days imaginable. Healing for Cassie has come in many different forms. If you check out Cassie's Story on Facebook, you will get a precious glimpse into her healing journey. While Cassie has come a tremendously long way, she has many hopes for continued healing of her traumatic brain injury.
One day, I was with Cassie, and she had some exciting news to share. She and my Aunt Annie shared that Cassie was accepted into an intensive two-week program through a clinic in Utah called Cognitive Fx ( https://www.cognitivefxusa.com/). This special clinic works with survivors of traumatic brain injury by using cutting-edge technology to help identify which parts of Cassie's brain have been injured and then create a unique plan of treatment. They said Cassie is the perfect candidate, and we are so excited that she has this opportunity!
When Cassie and her mom shared this with me, Cassie immediately began to cry. All she could say was, "It's too much." I feel weepy every time I think about this because there is no such thing as "too much" when it comes to helping those we love heal. I am asking you to please consider donating to help cover expenses for this treatment. The cost of the program for two weeks is $23,000 in addition to travel and lodging expenses. Our goal is to raise $12,000 to support Cassie and her family. Insurance does not cover any of these costs. We would be so grateful to have you partner with us in giving Cassie this opportunity for healing.
