Healing Darla
Three days ago I received a frantic call from a former Alief ISD student, Rachael Umanzor. Rachael's little dog, Darla got attacked by a bigger dog while outside in their family home front yard. Darla's wounds are in the lower back and are so deep that they ripped her stomach. Rachael is currently attending Loan Star College and works part-time. The vet bill which is included in the updates is way too much for this young lady .
I have committed myself to educate the Alief community on responsible pet ownership for the last few years, I even have an after-school program on animal welfare and animal rights at the school I teach at. This young lady is doing everything right with her little dog. Darla is spayed, up to date in her vaccinations, and was overall healthy until the attack. Rachael will contribute to the 4,156.62 vet bill but we can all agree this amount is way out of the league for a college student. Please help me support responsible pet parenthood. This young girl is not asking for a free ride she is assuming responsibility as she is paying for part of the vet bill. As a teacher and an animal advocate, this campaign means a lot to me. I am posting vet bills and pictures on updates. Feel free to ask as many questions as you may have. Let's show Rachael and Darla the support they need and deserve and most importantly let's make sure Darla gets the medical care she needs.
