Healing Ben: Support the Williams Family

On Friday, June 23rd, My brother Ben was enjoying a pleasant stroll with his family when tragedy struck. While teaching his 6-year-old son how to ride a scooter, he lost control, fell and sustained multiple, complex fractures to his left arm and leg plus abrasions to the right knee and shoulder. Ben’s life and that of his family changed in the blink of an eye while simply spending quality time with his boys.

Immediately following the accident, Ben was transported by ambulance to Baptist in Fort Smith but due to the extensive damage, he was airlifted to a Level II Trauma Center in Little Rock for specialized surgical care.
Ben suffered a broken ulna in 2 places and dislocated/compressed radius in his left arm. He also sustained a crushed tibial plateau in his left leg. The first surgery required the placement of plates and pins to repair his ulna and a complete radial head replacement with a prosthetic ball. During the same surgery, an external fixator was placed on his leg to stretch his tibia back to normal length. In addition to the severe fractures, the abrasions to his right shoulder and knee are being treated by wound care. Once the swelling goes down, he will have another surgery (set for Thurs, June 29th) to repair the tibia in his left leg/knee. He will be in a wheelchair upon his return home for a minimum of three months. Ben will have months and months of intense physical therapy to regain his ability to use his left arm, to stand, walk and return to work as a Sleeper Team Driver for UPS.

To know my brother is to know that once he sets his mind to something, 9 times out of 10, he will accomplish it. Even in times of stress and the looming unknown, Ben remains steadfast in his role as a father. Ben will push through driving across the country from Monday through Friday and still come home and pour his love out to the boys and Sondra. Ben is the best Daddy.

The next 6 or more months will include: healing of surgical wounds, 2+ hour drive each way to see his surgeon, extensive physical therapy and mental strain for he and his family. I am confident that he will come out on the other side of it but he and his family need our help!

Ben's injuries have left him unable to work for an estimated period of six to twelve months. As the sole financial provider, Ben and his family will need every ounce of help while he is healing.

Please share Ben's story on your social media platforms and get the word out. Thank you for standing with us as we support our brother/son/grandson/uncle/cousin/spouse and most important..DAD to Cayson (10), Everett (6) and Stratton (almost 2).
