My little Azalea Sue is one strong and brave girl, but unfortunately she hasn’t had the smoothest start with life. It wasn’t until we were in recovery after my c-section that they found her congenital diaphragmatic hernia. I only got to hold my baby maybe 3mins, and then she was taken to the NICU. A few hours later she were told about her condition and was flown to the University of Chicago to have surgery a couple days later. With all the tubes she had and having a breathing tube for a week and a half, my poor chick developed an oral aversion and had to have a g-tube put in. She’s now growing great and learning! We went to have her follow up appointments yesterday and her cardiologist knew about the 4 vsds (holes in her heart.) from the day she was born but wanted to give her time to grow and have her lungs adjust from her hernia. We ended up getting the news that baby girl will have to have two of those holes patched, which means open heart surgery…. We are praying this will be the last of the surgeries. Our baby girl is soooo strong and will get through this! They said her recovery could be 1-2 weeks and David will have to take off work during that time. I hate to ask, especially during the holidays, but anything will help us! We are asking for help with David taking time off of work to cover our normal bills, as well as for baby Azalea’s hospital bills that are coming in.
