Help Casandra Bring Indigenous Teachings and Healing Justice to Life As a first-generation Canadian and Human Rights student, I’m travelling abroad this winter to learn from Indigenous knowledge keepers and deepen my understanding of healing as a human right. Your support will help cover travel, living, and study costs so I can carry this work forward. Hi, my name is Casandra. I study Human Rights and Indigenous Ways of Knowing and Being at the University of Winnipeg, and I’ve been walking a healing path for most of my life. I first turned to yoga and breathwork at sixteen after a car accident and scoliosis diagnosis. Those tools became my lifeline. Over time, I trained as a wellness facilitator and have now spent nearly two decades sharing yoga, meditation, sound, and breath with community. I’m the first in my family to attend university and a first-generation Canadian. My father is from Guatemala, and reconnecting with my roots has been a healing journey of its own. Growing up wasn’t always easy, many of the spaces I needed for healing didn’t exist yet. My work now is about creating those spaces: places for rest, belonging, and collective care. Why I’m Raising Funds This winter, I’ve been offered the chance to take part in an international practicum focused on Indigenous land rights, healing, and ways of being. A required part of my degree and a profound opportunity for growth. For me, this practicum is not only about fulfilling an academic requirement. It’s about understanding healing as a human right, especially for Indigenous Peoples whose access to traditional healing practices has been disrupted or taken away through colonization. In Indigenous worldviews, healing is more than the absence of illness, it’s the presence of balance between body, spirit, community, and the land. Through this practicum, I’ll have the honour of learning directly from Indigenous knowledge keepers, deepening my understanding of what justice and reconciliation mean when they come from the land and from lived experience. This opportunity will allow me to bring these teachings back home and integrate them into community work, wellness practices, and advocacy through Breath Work With Cas. Helping to restore and honour the right to heal in ways that are culturally rooted and spiritually grounded. I’m raising $5,000 to cover travel, living, and study expenses so I can take part in this practicum and carry these teachings forward into the spaces I hold for others. Your support will help me continue this journey of learning, healing, and sharing. Every donation or share brings this vision closer! One where healing is recognized as a human right, and Indigenous knowledge is honoured and carried forward. From my heart, Cas
