Healing and Recovery of Otis
Donation protected
Sweet Otis is what almost everyone likes to call him, because he truly is. He brings a smile to everyone he meets and has a special and kind spirit that everyone can feel.
In late November 2020 I found a lump on the outside of his left leg, got it checked out and it turned out to be a small mast cell tumor. He had surgery in early December 2020 to have it removed. It was sent off for testing and came back as a low grade level 2, and would require monitoring.
Fast Forward just almost 4 months after surgery April 2021 and I noticed bleeding from his leg, took him to the vet and his skin had ruptured from the inflammation and the mast cell tumor grew beneath his skin and its maybe triple the size. It was tested and confirmed he has cancer.
He has met with an oncologist team now for a second opinion and tests have been done on a swollen lymph node as well as spleen and liver. Next steps would be amputation of the leg and chemo treatments.
Amputation will range between $3k-$4k, chemo treatments will range between $600-$700 every other week, and then there is all of the in between, medication, testing etc. All of the funds will go towards everything he will need.
Otis was rescued from a dog meat trade market in China at the end of 2018/early 2019. He came to the states and ended up in Las Vegas with me. From the moment I saw his picture pop up in Facebook that he was up for adoption I inquired and meet him a few days later and he has been with me and his fur brother Riley ever since. It has taken Otis a very long time to do normal things such as play with toys, jump on the couch, but with patience and tons of love, he has made leaps and bounds. One thing he definitely has always loved since day one is food and treats, he dances with excitement almost every time he knows its feeding time. He truly has brought so much joy into my life and into my heart, a bond that I cant put into words.
It has been an extremely emotional week, but one thing is for sure I will not stop fighting for Little O. He deserves the absolute world. I am not certain what the road lies ahead, but we need to keep him strong and healthy and fighting the good fight.
I know I am not being biased in saying he is special just because he is my dog, but he truly is. He has a special spirit and I am blessed that I was chosen to be his dog momma.
Thank you for caring about my sweet boy and wanting to help in any way <3
