No parent or grandparent ever expects a day filled with love and celebration to end in tragedy. That is exactly what happened to our family on Christmas Day.

My name is Cleo Allen, and I am creating this GoFundMe on behalf of my daughter, Krystal Murphy, for her son, my beloved grandson, Khalil Corey Johnson.

What began as a joyful Christmas celebration turned into a devastating nightmare. Khalil was involved in a serious scooter accident, and the details surrounding how it happened are still unclear, and in a single moment, everything changed.

Khalil suffered severe and life-altering injuries, including multiple fractures to his face, a broken upper and lower jaw, deep abrasions to his knees and wrist, and the loss of several teeth. He has already undergone three major surgeries, including a 12-hour operation to repair extensive facial damage, followed by oral surgery. Doctors have shared that more surgeries may still be needed.

His recovery will be long and challenging. Khalil is expected to face three to six months of recovery, possibly longer, and will need speech therapy, jaw reconstruction, and specialized medical equipment to help him regain basic daily functions.

This journey has been emotionally and financially overwhelming for our family. Khalil is strong and determined, but healing of this magnitude requires support.
