Around the 20th of January 2026, George was headed into work on his motorcycle on surface streets, when a car that was following too close behind a big rig, didn't see the light change to red and swerved to run the red light and made a left turn across oncoming traffic. George didn't have enough time to stop, since he had entered the intersection with a green light at speed, and collided straight into the passenger side of the sedan that ran the light. George cart wheeled into the air and landed on the pavement on his lower back and hip. He was rushed to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, where they determined he had broken his L5 vertebra and his pelvis in several places, including a sheer fracture of his pelvis on the left side which had been displaced. They put him in traction, and waited 6 days for the best surgeon to perform the surgery. After the initial surgery, where they placed 5 screws into his pelvis, the doctor determined that some of the screws were not in the optimal position due to the small size of the bones, so he underwent a second surgery to remove the screws on the small bones of his pelvis, and had an external fixator inserted instead to stabilize his pelvis.
George will be out of work for an extended period of time while he recovers. With several months of physical therapy to follow. We have been blessed to have family and friends who are taking our two young boys to school while I talk with doctors before their rounds in the mornings. George has been transferred to a rehabilitation center in Loma Linda, CA where the healing process with continue.
