My husband and I are founders of Jehovah Jireh Children’s Home in Qwa Qwa, South Africa. We have been a registered NPO in the country for over a decade. It is there we provide for the needs of 90+ children on a full-time basis with our South African staff.
We have received, into our home, a 4-year-old girl who, because of the savagery of an adult male, is now in the hospital with a chronic blood disease, syphilis, full-thickness soft tissue injury requiring skin grafting, a colostomy, and a urinary catheter. The abuse, at the very least, started at the age of two. I do not know the emotional toll it has caused, and we pray for healing long after the physical body is healed.
We had no choice but to choose a private hospital to send her. The local free hospitals had mismanaged her case, adding insult to injury. She is receiving great care at Hoogland Medi Clinic, and it is our desire to keep her there until she is fully healed (outwardly) and her colostomy is reversed.
To date, my generous husband has paid the hospital 23,000 dollars. (This is in addition to our regularly occurring monthly expenses). We do not receive government funding, and our children do not have health insurance. He never complains and knows that God is our Provider (the meaning of Jehovah Jireh), but we could use help now in order to keep her there and not be discharged before she is healed. The hospital is asking for more funds today.
We are hoping and praying to raise another 20-30K for her current and ongoing care. She is still receiving IV and oral medications to control infection and her pain and receives multiple wound care treatments. Her donor site is still raw and painful. To ease costs, they are doing wound care in an isolation room now instead of an operating room.
Please consider a donation of ANY amount (it is tax-deductible) and SHARE this fundraiser on your socials. No South Africans will see this personal information about this sweet child. I know it is disturbing, but this is her reality. Please help make a difference in her little life.
