Healing and Help for Elodie

Last Monday night on Feb 18th my 3 year old niece spiked a fever that continued to rise over the next 3 days, and was unresponsive to fever reducing meds. On Thursday afternoon at a Dr's visit she was confirmed positive for influenza A. In fact her 3 siblings were also pretty ill with sinus infections and the flu as well but not like Elodie. After being told by the Dr there was really no treatment because it was a virus my sister Abi went home and continued to care for her kids.

The very next night she noticed the skin under Elodie's eye changing color from a dark circle to bright red in a matter of hours. By Saturday morning the skin was so swollen and red above and below her eye. A trip to the ER confirmed not only was she battling the flu but developed a dangerous infection of the orbit in her eye called orbital cellulitis which was confirmed by a ct scan yesterday.

Due the nature, area and potential danger of the infection, Elodie must stay a minimum of 5 days in the hospital for IV antibiotics and close monitoring. If there is any way you could financially help we would be so grateful! Even $ 1 will help! My little sister is a stay at home mama to 4 kids, 3 of them very young. My brother in law works 2 full time jobs to provide for his family but he has to take time off work (which they can not for one second afford) to help care for the other kids and alternate hospital time with Ella. Not only is this a financial hardship and time missed at work, they have a whopping $6000 medical deductible they are responsible for before insurance covers anything.

My family is asking if you can partner with us in helping Abigail and her beautiful little family to cover the medical expenses while they endure this hardship. We covet your prayers at this time. We also just found out that my niece is going to have to be seen by an ENT specialist as well as an ophthalmologist. The CT scan revealed some abnormalities were spotted in her sinuses that may require future surgery. We are forever grateful and thankful for anything you can do, and especially your prayers....she's just a baby!
