Earlier this year, I went in for a mammogram followed by a biopsy thinking it was all precautionary. Like so many people, I told myself I was too young and that something like this could never happen to me. Much to my surprise, in January I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Since then, life has changed in ways I never imagined. I recently underwent a mastectomy and am now facing the physical, emotional, and financial challenges that come with treatment and recovery. Between copays, medications, follow-up appointments, time away from work, and the many unexpected expenses along the way, things have become overwhelming at times. Anyone who knows me knows that I’ve been through a lot, and this is just something else added to my chapter. But no matter what life throws at me, I’ve always tried to just keep going and keep smiling, even on the days it feels impossible. Right now, my focus is healing, staying strong for my children, and taking things one day at a time. It’s not easy for me to ask for help, but this fundraiser will help ease some of the financial stress so I can focus on recovery instead of worrying about how I’m going to manage everything. Whether you donate, share this, or simply keep me in your thoughts and prayers, I truly appreciate every bit of support more than words can express.
