I've never been one to ask for help. But as embarrassing as it is, here I am.
This afternoon, I kicked over a gallon of denatured alcohol in the shop by accident and it ignited. The can exploded alcohol all over me, and I went up in flames.
By the absolute grace of God, our dog Bandit heard me screaming from inside the house and went absolutely crazy getting Allen's attention. Allen opened the back door to let Bandit out and heard me screaming. He came running into the garage to find me rolling on the floor engulfed in flames. My hero Allen was able to extinguish the flames and saved my life.
I am currently recovering in Sanford Hospital. The surgical team assessed my right leg with severe 2nd-degree burns covering the majority of my leg. Amazingly, my right leg was the only injury, besides the flash burn on my face and missing hair.
After quite a cocktail of pain medication, it seems to be controlled at the moment. They will keep me admitted to make sure it stays that way.
I am so thankful that this is the extent of my injuries.
I will be out of work for an undecided amount of time, which means so much more when I am a self-employed small business owner. Normally, this would not be such a financial burden for my family, but my sales were already suffering from the current economy and from the time I took away from the shop prior to and after the death of my Dad. This along with the medical expenses involved this is a big hit in o my family.
I'm trying to stay positive, I'm trying to keep my faith strong and keep in mind that there is a reason for the path I'm on.
Please keep me and my family in your prayers.
Thank you.
