Hi friends and friends of friends and friends of friends of friends

As a queer and trans working-class white person coming from the South -a region that experienced the shuttering of some 50 hospitals in 2022 – I am very aware of what powerful resources gender-affirming health care and public insurance are. I didn't haul up here to Philly to access these supports; however, it was a nonetheless surreal immersion in my thirties. Accessible and affirming health care has been transforming; both in my own navigation of health systems as an aging fat queer person and parent, as well as how I imagine our building of systems of care and remedy beyond what has been instituted and normalized in this awful project of the United States.

I’m at longdadgumlast having top surgery in early February! This arrival has been a long and slow and nonlinear meander and I am honored to be at a moment in my life in which this is possible. I’ve received so much thoughtful support from loves to get here and I do need help with one final and critical ingredient to assure ease through my days of recovery.

While I’m privileged to live in a place where this life affirming procedure is covered by State health insurance, I do not have any personal savings to cover the many weeks I’m unable to work. I’m leaning on my people and our networks to help me and my family cover our regular expenses as well as have some remaining funds for compensating folks on my care team, otherwise not accessible recovery treatments, and possible child care. All funds exceeding my goal will be shared with Medicine Bowl and Cooperation Jackson.

I am so grateful for the support and hotdamn honored to run beside you in this trouble-makin body.
