Heal our community cat, Scaliwag!
Donation protected
Our community, Chaotica, recently rescued a cat from a community that was evicted. The cat, named Cali, was a feral that adopted itself into a community by domesticating herself into their home. She is an incredibly social and sweet calico that loves hanging out with people and cuddling.
Cali (we renamed her Scali, short for Scaliwag) has an infected tumor. It's an open wound that is very obviously painful. The tumor requires her to wear a cone so she doesn't further irritate the wound. She hates the cone and has several times in the past week escaped from it or used it to scratch at the injury When she's wearing the cone, she cannot clean herself, struggles to eat, and has impaired mobility. It also prevents her from being as snuggly as she really wants to be.
Because she was informally adopted, she has no owner. When the community was evicted we made a split second decision to house her. A vet quoted the surgery at anywhere between $1300 and $3900. We offered to care for this cat to help out another community, and were not aware of the financial burden this would impose upon us. She's clearly in pain everyday and we want to help her, but aren't sure how to pay for the operation.
We're asking for support from our friends and family to chip in whatever they can to cover the cost of this sweet kitty's surgery so she can be healthy again. Any amount raised above the cost of the operation will be used to purchase any supplemental cat care items to make her life more comfortable, and/or donated to the SPCA.
