Healing Naomi’s heart ♥️

Hi, I’m Naomi. I’m 43, a single mum of two, and I’ve recently been diagnosed with two rare and life-threatening conditions: Multiple Myeloma and Cardiac Amyloidosis.

On March 17th, 2025, my world changed with one phone call. My doctor told me to go straight to hospital—my heart was showing signs of damage. Just five days later, after scans, MRIs, and a bone marrow biopsy, I was told I had cancer, and immediate treatment was critical. Without it, I’d have 6 to 12 months to live.

Within days, I had to leave hospital, pack up my life in Hervey Bay, resign from full-time work, and move to Gympie to stay with family and start urgent chemotherapy at Sunshine Coast Private Hospital.

I’ve used all my savings just to make that move and now rely on Centrelink support to get by. But cancer doesn’t pause for financial hardship. My treatment plan involves 6 months of intensive weekly chemotherapy, followed by 18 months of monthly treatments. On top of that, I’m researching every possible holistic and integrative therapy I can access—because surviving this isn't just about chemo. It's about strengthening my whole body so I can fight not only now, but in the long term.

An urgent and unexpected challenge is my dental health.

Before I begin certain chemotherapy drugs, I’ve been told that I must complete any required dental work—especially extractions—as these procedures won’t be possible once treatment begins. Any dental infection during chemo could be dangerous or even life-threatening.

Unfortunately, dental work in Australia is expensive, and it’s not covered by Medicare. I need support to get this critical work done as soon as possible.

I’ve also looked into international cancer clinics like Hope for Cancer in Mexico, which offer non-toxic treatments not available here, but the cost ($70–100K AUD) is far beyond my reach. Instead, I’m doing everything I can to mirror those therapies here at home—but again, they come with high out-of-pocket costs.

I’ve even explored accessing my superannuation insurance, but legal advice has warned me that the process is long, stressful, and unlikely to succeed—something I can’t take on in my current condition.

So now, as hard as it is to ask, I’m reaching out.

I’m asking for help so I can give myself the best shot at surviving and healing.
