We’re Healing Souls Sanctuary — a small but determined rescue mission in the southern mountains of Costa Rica. We rescue animals in crisis, support struggling farmers, and create space where animals and people heal — together.
But right now, we’re running on borrowed time and borrowed land.
We have no permanent home — and without land, we cannot grow.
Now we’ve found the place.
The land is real. The timing is urgent.
But we need your help to secure it — or this dream may slip away.
What We've Already Done
- Rescued 8 dogs, 2 cats, and 2 horses (one sadly passed)
- Provided deworming, parasite treatment, enriched feed, and medications
- Donated grass seed, food, and vet supplies to local farms
- Collected weekly food scraps from a local college to feed rescue animals
- Raised funds for spay/neuter surgeries, flea treatments, and vaccinations
- Helped vaccinate and care for animals on-site
- Hosted volunteer days every Wednesday
But we’ve reached our limit. Without stable land, we can’t expand or accept the animals already waiting on us.
The Land We Hope to Secure
We’ve found the property we dream of calling home —
308 acres of ocean-view farmland in Balsar, Costa Rica, with a two-story house, rivers, natural springs, fencing, fruit trees, and flat, usable land for animals and construction.
It includes two existing cabinas that can be upgraded for volunteer housing right away — allowing us to begin serving the community even before full construction begins.
It’s just 25 minutes from Playa Ventanas and 35 from Uvita — an area surrounded by local families and healing energy.
At $689,000 USD, this kind of usable, ocean-view land with water access is almost unheard of in Costa Rica. We’re in private discussions — but without funding, we risk losing it.
What We're Building
This is not just a shelter.
It’s a sanctuary — a healing ground for animals, people, and the land.
We envision:
- Stables and pasture shelters for neglected and rescued horses — our main mission is to save working and abandoned horses, offer rehabilitation, and give them a second chance at life
- An animal physiotherapy & rehabilitation center — to support long-term healing of injuries, trauma, and chronic conditions
- An emergency clinic for first aid, medicine, and surgeries
- Volunteer cabins and shaded recovery zones for those caring for animals
- Retreat guest cabinas for visitors joining yoga, massage, trauma recovery, and healing retreats
- A community kitchen and shared gathering space for nourishment and connection
- A goat rescue & dairy lab — to save animals from slaughter and create sustainable income through ethical cheese and dairy products
- (We’ve already been asked to take in 20 goats and 2 sheep — but without land, we have nowhere to put them.)
- Our first mobile outreach project: Barks & Bubbles — a food truck offering dog treats and wellness experiences along the coast
We’ll sustain the sanctuary through courses, internships, day visits, and wellness stays, so it’s built to last.
✨ Healing Burnout & Trauma — Through Animal Connection
At Healing Souls Sanctuary, animals don’t just receive healing — they help give it.
As a therapist specializing in burnout and post-trauma recovery, I’ve seen the power of slowing down, caring for another being, and reconnecting with something real.
A silent horse. A rescued dog. The rhythm of feeding and walking. These become medicine.
For people who feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or lost, this sanctuary will be a safe space to return to themselves — one breath, one heartbeat at a time.
What We Need Now
I’m investing $150,000 USD from the sale of my home.
It’s everything I have — but it’s not enough.
We need to raise $852,000 USD to secure the land and begin building:
Where the Funds Will Go
- Land & House Purchase: $689,000
- Horse stables, fencing, and pasture shelters
- Volunteer & Retreat Cabins (upgrade of existing structures + new builds)
- Animal Physio & Emergency Clinic Construction
- Goat Dairy Lab & Shelter Setup
- Compost Toilets, Irrigation, and Water Lines
- Shared Kitchen & Healing Zones
- Emergency Fund: For surgeries, medication, and urgent rescue cases
- If we miss this window, the land may go to another buyer — and the animals waiting for us will have nowhere to go.
This Is Bigger Than Us
This isn’t about saving one dog or one horse.
This is about building a permanent, sustainable sanctuary — where animals are safe, people are restored, and nature is our teacher.
We’ve already seen what’s possible when love meets action.
Now we need your help to build something that lasts.
Something Costa Rica can be proud of.
Something the world can learn from.

About Me
I’m a French Canadian who moved to Costa Rica over three years ago — as a single mother, with my young son, and a quiet but unshakable calling to serve animals and heal people.
I’m a certified physiotherapist, kinesitherapist, and holistic massage therapist. My work is hands-on and heart-led — grounded in the belief that healing only happens when animals, humans, and nature thrive together.
Our life here has been simple, grounded, and deeply connected to the land and community.
Now, I’m ready to build a sanctuary — not just for us, but for all souls in need of healing.
