Help Save Carissa – Our Dog, Our Family, Our Last Link to My Mom

I’m writing this with a heavy and aching heart.

Our beloved 7.2-pound dog Carissa was viciously attacked by two loose pit bulls while my 6-year-old daughter was walking out the door with her in our quiet cul-de-sac neighborhood. The dogs came out of nowhere and mauled her. Carissa now has severe puncture wounds, including her lung and her sternum, and is currently sedated in an emergency vet clinic.

She needs life-saving surgery that costs $10,000, and without it… the vet recommends putting her to sleep.

But I do not want to put her to sleep. I love her so much. It would feel like I’m ending her life like I’m murdering my dog. And I just can’t bear that thought. She wants to live. She’s fighting to live. I need to fight for her too.

Carissa is not “just a dog.” She is my daughter’s best friend and emotional support, and she means even more to our family because…

When my mother passed away, her last request was for me to take care of Carissa. Carissa is the last connection we have to my mom. She has been a comfort, a companion, a reminder of my mother’s love and warmth. Losing Carissa would feel like losing my mom all over again.

My 6-year-old daughter is also traumatized from the attack. She suffered a minor injury to her wrist, but emotionally, she’s broken. She’s scared to walk outside. And all she keeps asking is, “Is Carissa going to be okay?”

I’m doing everything I can to keep Carissa stable, but I can’t afford this surgery on my own. I’m praying that someone out there will help us save her life.

Please, if you can give anything even a few dollars it will go directly toward her emergency medical care. And if you can’t give right now, please share this page with others. Every share helps.

Thank you for reading. Thank you for caring. And thank you for helping me fight for Carissa’s life.

With love and hope
