History in Woodlawn Memorial Park, Compton, CA
PARALEE C. COLEMAN was a child actress between 1926 and 1937. She participated in numerous “shorts” in the “Smith Family” series and as Pleurisy in the “Our Gang” Little Rascals. Paralee is buried in Woodlawn, Section 3-2, Lot 105, Grave 6.
Paralee was born on February 18, 1924, in Pennsylvania. By 1928 her family was living on Hooper St. in the San Antonio area, a part of the original Rancho San Antonio (Lugo) land grant of 1810, just 5 miles north of Woodlawn Memorial Park. Paralee was 16 when she married Joe Taylor Pearson in 1940. They had one son. Little is published about Paralee’s life after her acting career. We believe there was a second marriage to Mr. Lambert. She died in Ventura County, California on November 12, 1965.
The following are the movie “shorts” in which we know she acted. There may have been more but the old films and posters were often lost, damaged due to age or fire. We’ve been unable to locate a picture of Paralee as an adult
