Headstone for Fijian veteran Pte Naviosuio RLC
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Jock and I am a SSAFA caseworker and Army veteran representative in Scotland.
The current Veteran's Welfare Manager (Highland) requested assistance in generating a SSAFA bid to support the procurement and placement of a headstone for Naz an ex RLC Fijian soldier who died in 2018.
On completing his service, Naz moved to Inverness to live and work, but died unexpectedly. He was afforded a council burial, as he had no NOK in the UK nor could the family (still in Fiji) afford to procure a gravestone for their sibling. Naz has remained in an unmarked grave since; a concept that veterans and serving soldiers alike find it hard to understand.
The Naviosuio family in Fiji gave permission to try and resolve the shortfall by submitting a SSAFA application via the RLC Benevolence Fund. Unfortunately, the appplication was rejected on the premise of "need versus want".
This is the reasoning for this 'Go Fund Me' application.
Plesae help the veteran community in Scotland generate the neccessary funds to finally provide Naz with a headstone, recognition of his service to Queen and country and final peace.
