I met Amiyah’s mother when I noticed the 3 year old’s grave marker next to my grandparent’s gravesite. Immediately I noticed her young age and couldn’t help but search her name online. That’s when I got in touch with her mom, Lauren Alborn, who told me about her daughter’s tragic and unexpected death this past August.
Amiyah choked on a piece of food - her mom tried desperately to save her but couldn’t. EMTs took 18 minutes to arrive and it just wasn’t fast enough.
Lauren is a stay at home mom and cares for Amiyah’s two siblings, one of which has chronic health issues. Her husband, Amiyah’s dad, works to support them.
But with two young children and the cost of living, purchasing a permanent headstone for this sweet child is unattainable.
On top of the fact that a headstone is expensive, Amiyah’s 4th birthday would have been December 18. The first birthday and Christmas without their daughter is sure to be devastating. I would love to help her family provide her with a proper stone. Nothing will bring her back but I’m certain that it would bring some peace to her family to be able to give their daughter one last gift to honor her short life.
