I’m raising money to benefit Equality Now , and any donation will help make a real impact. Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me, as I feel it confronts many of the gender-based inequalities facing us in the present day.

As well as donating any raised funds to Equality Now, shaving my head will allow me to donate my hair to Little Princess Trust, which provides free real-hair wigs for children and young people who have lost their hair due to cancer treatment of other conditions.

I chose to shave my head for fundraising for Equality Now as this cause resonates with me deeply. Equality Now drives the legal and systemic change necessary to end violence and discrimination against all women and girls around the world, to the benefit of all.

I support Equality Now because they are working towards, and achieving, systemic change. In 2024 alone their work improved justice for over 52 million women and girls, for example through:

Legal Reform: Influencing over 130 discriminatory laws worldwide since 1992, improving lives for millions.

Ending Violence, including supporting bans on Female Genital Mutilation (FGM).

Economic Equality: Fighting for women's property rights, which are legally constrained in many countries, promoting economic stability.

Global Collaboration: Building powerful networks with local, national, and global partners, amplifying grassroots efforts.

Systemic Change: Integrating gender equality into global frameworks, such as the UN's Pact for the Future, ensuring lasting impact.

As a student at UWC Atlantic, I am grateful to have a global perspective, however, this causes us to become increasingly aware of gender inequalities worldwide, as well as other issues. From overturning 'marry your rapist' laws in Georgia and Bolivia, anti-trafficking laws being put in place, and challenging sex-discriminatory laws on regional and international scales alike, Equality Now is improving justice for women and girls globally, and with your contribution, more can only be done!
