Family and Friends,
There aren’t adequate words to describe the past 6 months of all of our lives. 2020 has changed basically everything, and has exposed injustices that have been impacting people for years and years, no longer able to hide.
As you know, I have been teaching at Bronx Park Middle School for 6 years. As you can imagine, this past school year was unlike any other I (or anyone) had experienced, and the only thing I know for sure about our upcoming school year is that it will be the full of unknowns and shifts as well.
Just because there are things we don’t know about what school will look like, it doesn’t mean that I can’t prepare to give my students the best possible experience they can imagine. This is where I am asking for your help.
Teachers at my school have been working hard to give students a variety of materials that will be useful to them regardless of what school looks like. We have collected hundreds of books, art materials and school supplies to give students some of what they need to be successful as we prepare for the unknowns of this year.
Since (in some part) students will be learning digitally, I am looking to purchase headphones for all the students in my school, so that they can access resources that require sound and video. I’m also looking to purchase tote bags and other supplies so we can gather all of the amazing supplies and materials people have donated and assemble back to school bags for our students.
So many of you have helped me do amazing things with my students in the past. We’ve seen Broadway shows, been on other field trips, and given students access to technology because of your help. Any amount that you could donate would be greatly appreciated and would mean so much to my students, myself, and everyone else at my school. My goal is to order these items as soon as possible!
If you’d like to know more, please feel free to reach out to me!
Thank you for helping my kids have a strong start to what is sure to be an unpredictable year!
