Headley Cricket to honour Sir Michael Pickard's legacy

Dear friends of the Club, past and present members, and opposition teams,

As you may be aware, Sir Michael Pickard has announced that he will be stepping down as President of the Club at next year’s Annual General Meeting. By that time, Michael will have served an incredible 38 years as President, and it will be 77 years since he first played at the Club.

No one has been more dedicated to the betterment of the Club than Michael. His tireless work, supported throughout by his wife Jane, has made him synonymous with the development of Headley cricket. The Club’s success today is a testament to the drive, commitment, and generosity he has invested in every aspect of its growth. While his leadership as President will be greatly missed, we are pleased that Michael will continue to support us as a Vice President.

To honour Michael’s immense legacy, the Club has decided, with his approval, to commission a portrait that will hang in the Pavilion. The portrait will be created by the artist David Newens [www.davidnewens.com].

We would like to extend an invitation to all who have been touched by Michael’s contributions to cricket—whether you are a past or present member, a former opponent, or simply a friend of the Club—to join us in contributing to this tribute. A small donation towards the cost of the portrait would help us celebrate Michael’s unparalleled impact in a fitting and lasting way.
