Head Strong Arthur

On 10th May 2021 our imperfectly perfect baby boy was born and totally and utterly completed our family.
However, at 3 days old, we were told that Arthur suffers from a rare condition called Sagittal Craniosynostosis and we were painted a bleak picture for his development. For Arthur to have the best quality of life and after discussions with specialist consultants, he needed to have an operation called a Total Clavarial Remodel.
This involved extensive surgery to his head, removing the skull plates and completely remodelling his skull shape in order to allow for his brain to expand as normal.

Arthur was in surgery for 10 hours, undergoing this life changing procedure. During his recovery he showed resilience beyond belief and truly is an inspiration. In honour of those 10 hours that he had to endure, we as a family felt a need to raise money to support the charities that continue to be so very important in his journey.

Without the Ronald Macdonald house to provide refuge and a place to stay during this turbulent time the whole ordeal would have hit very different. They provided continuity, accessibility and a safe place during a time that was none of these things.
The Headlines Charity raises awareness of those living with or families having to deal with these life changing conditions.

Therefore, we would like to raise money for both of these charities equally. Every penny we raise on here will be split equally between the two charities.

So what exactly are we asking...

We are asking for YOUR donations, big or small.

And what are WE doing...

On 6 April 2025 Katie will be running the Brighton Marathon, thats 26.2 miles in case you wondered...in one run!!! The 2025 course is yet to be confirmed but runners are apparently in for an undulating outing!

And then on 17 May 25 I will be undertaking the Tenacious 10. This is a 10 hour endurance race, taking on the Welsh Mountains. I will be running a 4.2mile loop up the Black Mountain reaching max elevation of 2300ft.... to complete as many loops as possible in 10 hours. I specifically chose this race to honour the 10hours Arthur spent in surgery.

We have chosen these races as personal endurances. These are COMPLETELY out of our comfort zone and we aim to hopefully show a fraction of the tenacity and resilience that our beautiful boy has shown us.

Please please dig deep, the charities are so very worth it. And whilst I'm at it...always round up to donate on your Macdonalds orders from now on!!

With thanks from the bottom of our hearts Sam and Katie xxx
