In the early hours of Tuesday 12th

August my brother mark finally passed over to his peaceful place.

Mark had cancer previously and beat it.

He was clear for 5 years until it came back 2 years ago. This time it was terminal.

Mark fought so hard especially for the last 9 months. Our families are in awe of the strength he had right up to his passing.We not only lost our brother, our parents lost their son, son un-law. Trish lost her beloved life partner.Nieces and nephews lost their much loved uncle.

He is loved by so many people not Just our families but friends and customers he had made over the years.

Mark was a perfectionist which should in every aspect of his life. More so in his business. He was a builder who worked with Yorkshire stone and Grade listed buildings. He never had to advertise for work as his customers came by word of mouth, some customers waiting months until he became available.The legacy of his work will be seen for years and years to come in Soyland,Norland and the surrounding areas.

My son was a part of the team that canoed from Sowerby bridge to Hull just short of last year. Raising funds to go towards the big build. I would have loved to have been part of the team. Unfortunately my health issues prevent me from doing physical activities so i have decided to shave my hair off to raise money for Overgate.

I know how much it affected my brother loosing his hair, as it does many people going through treatment.Hopefully i will be able to raise £200 or more for this so needed charity.

The staff go above and beyond to make our loved ones comfortable in the last moments of their lives.They do it with so much dignity and care, before and after they have passed.Mark had been at Overgate on 3 separate occasions, 2 of those pain management. The hospice offers many different types of care for our loved ones including the support after your loved one has passed.Our family cannot thank the staff enough in taking care of our beautiful and beloved Mark.

The date for my head shave is Saturday 4th October 2025 at 4:30pm. This will be recorded and posted.
