Ricky Carroll, Head on Crash
My husband Ricky Carroll is an amazing man and husband on 02/23 he was in a head on car accident with a Tractor Trailer. The Tractor Trailer was trying to pass another truck in a no passing zone. He is in the icu being sedated and going thru multiple surgerys and will be here for awhile. Looking for help with our bills at home while we're in the hospital. So we can go home when he gets all better. Thank you everyone for the help and support. It means the world to me and I'm sure when I can tell Ricky about it he will be very grateful.
As of 3/8 Ricky has been thru 5 surgerys. They had to fix his shoulder, pelvis, hip and stomach. He will be wheelchair bound intill he learns to walk again. He's had some complications but has been so strong so far. He will have arthritis in many of his broken areas that have been fixed. He will also need a hip replacement in the next couple years. He is still on a vent that is breathing for him. He has been taken off the sedative but because of all the meds, is not coherent right now.
As of 3/16 Ricky is a little more coherent, he's mouthing words and asking what happened. He doesn't remember his accident. He's still on the breathing vent, running a fever and having various problems. He has good days and bad. He still has a very long road ahead of him before we can even get him moved closer to home.
As of 3/27 Ricky has had 8 surgerys. He had 2 more on his stomach for a bleed and dead small intestine. During one surgery his heart stopped 3 to 4 times. They got it working again but he had a stroke on the back right side of his brain. Since then he hasn't fully woken up and we won't know the damage it may have caused till he does. He's been putting on dialysis for his kidneys, they aren't working properly and we don't know if they will get better or not at this point. He is still on the vent. They say number wise he's improving again.
As of 4/3 He's had 12 Surgerys, mostly on his belly. They are going in every couple days to clean out his incistions and close them to help them heal. He can't eat the liquid food yet so his healing process is slow. He's awake and in good spirits. He's mouthing words and using his right arm pretty well. He's not moving his left or his legs, but has started to get feeling back into them slowly. Everyday he's asking to get him out of bed or take him home. Or asking what happened or when he can go home. He's causing all kinds of trouble. When we leave his room we have to restrain him or he's pulling on all his wires. He's pulled his trac out a couple times and tried to blame me for it. But he's doing good as of now.
As of 5/27 We are in Atlanta Georgia, we got here about 2 weeks ago to start the rehab part. Ricky has had 17 Surguries. Still Fighting infections and his stomach is still open and will have a few more surgurys to go. Ricky has been in his wheelchair one time since we got here. Abut a week or so ago his blood pressure is dropping and there having hard time getting it to stay up on its own. So for now he has speech therapy, Arm and leg rehab in bed. He wont be able to get back into his chair or leave the icu here and go to the normal rehab floor intill his blood pressure is under control again. Hes not able to drink or eat still, he gets a medicine cup of ice chips every 4 hours just to help keep his mouth wet. Its so his stomach can try and heal on its own. his pelvis and shoulder insitions are closed up mostly and stitches are out. He has 5 sucken Vac Insictions now. there helping to keep the fluid out and help the incitions heal on there own. His right arm is getting stronger and hes starting to use his left a little bit more. He will never have the same range of motion in that arm because of the way it broke and healed. Hes legs he still isnt moving but the nerves in them are slowly growing back and hes starting to be able to flex his theigh muscles. Hes trying to stay postive and made a goal to walk by his 33rd birthday in August.
I want to thank everyone for the donations and help, The prays and thoughts.
