MORE THAN A GAME – THE STORY

Football has always been more than just 90 minutes on a pitch. It’s a release, a community, and for many people, a lifeline.

Wooden Chair FC was built on that idea. What started as a group of mates coming together to play has grown into something much bigger — a team that understands how much football can help people through the toughest moments in life. Whether it’s stress, anxiety, or feeling isolated, the game gives people a reason to show up, switch off, and feel part of something.

This match isn’t just about winning. It’s about raising awareness for mental health and supporting those who might be struggling in silence. Too often, people feel like they have to deal with things on their own. Through this event, we want to show that no one has to.

We’re proud to be supporting Head In The Game, a charity doing such incredible work to improve mental health through sport and conversation. Every donation, every bus stop ticket, and every bit of support on the day helps make a real difference.
