I am posting on behalf of Debra Maurer. Debra has recently been hospitalized due to a head on collision on April 13th.

As a result of this tragic car accident, Debra has suffered breaking almost every bone from the waist down. Including both hips, femur in both legs, both knees, left tibia, left foot, and left arm.

Thanks to the quick action of Illinois fire department, she was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center by helicopter. where she underwent a total of 3 surgeries. Debra was in the ICU for several days and receiving medical care from the talented staff who have done an amazing job to help my mother begin her road to recovery. Unfortunately Debra has no family in Illinois and hopefully will soon be going to assisted living once she is released by Advocate medical center so she can continue to get 24 hour care that she desperately needs.

As you can imagine, Debra’s hospitalization has resulted in the loss of wages and significant medical expenses, which her family did not anticipate. Any donation, no matter how small, would be greatly appreciated and would go a long way in helping Debra during this difficult time.

Now it’s our turn to protect you. Thank you for raising us to be the strong independent women. Thank you for loving us unconditionally no matter what. I wish I could snap my fingers or wiggle my nose (like Samantha from Bewitched) to make you better, it killed me seeing you laying in that hospital bed hopeless and in so much pain. But you are as strong as the women you raised, so I know you can over come anything I love you mom
