Update 9/8/21

I have pasted Nellie's last update below for those who have not seen it -  Larry is out of the hospital and at home.  Unfortunately St. Luke's did not have an open bed.  When faced with the choice of staying in the hospital additional time waiting for a bed to open up or going home he made the choice we all would have made - to go home, sleep in his own bed with his wife and his fur babies.  This will however probably slow his rehab a bit as there is a huge difference between Home Health rehab and inpatient rehab (mandatory 3 hrs a day).  I have no doubt he will work very hard and progress faster than what anyone would expect because that is just who he is - an over-achiever, but I cannot say it enough - he has a long hard road ahead and there is no short cut - Lucky for Larry there is no speed limit either and I am pretty sure pedal to the metal is the only way he travels.

Please continue to give if you can - it is going to be a while before he can go back to work and  Nellie is currently needed at home.  Thanks to FMLA she does not have to worry about having a job to return to when she can, but there is no monetary compensation.

Nellie's own words;
I can't say thank you enough to all who have supported us. For anyone that took the time out of your day to say a prayer, to shoot a text check in, send an encouraging message, donate to the go fund me. Thank you for standing with our family.
Larry is now home and will soon start physical and occupational therapies in the home. This will be a long challenging road for him. Dr's say 2 to 6 months recovery. Larry is motivated and making progress on the daily. He has already improved his abilities and will continue. Thank you for continuing to show love to Larry. We truly have been blessed.

UPDATE:  9/2/21   I am so happy to report (with Nellie's permission)

Larry is doing great (comparatively speaking of course) and as most of you know he is now not only off of the ventilator, but off the Covid unit as well.  He is no longer on  high-flow oxygen and as you can see by the new picture he was able to spend some much needed time with his wife.  He has some residual weakness, which is to be expected with what he has gone through so they are talking about a couple weeks of inpatient rehabilitation at St Luke's.

For those of you that are not familiar with St Luke's let me tell  you they are no joke - He will be participating in a minimum of 3 hours of therapy everyday (Monday thru Friday) to work on his strength, endurance, and fine motor skills, which have all been affected by this awful illness.

I've said it before and I will say it again - he has a long road ahead of him with a lot of hard work.  He is up to the challenge and he will smash it, but it is going to take some time.  I have no doubt that he will be back to 100% and I know that the love and support he feels from all of you - his  friends and family will continue to help him fight the good fight and KICK COVID'S ASS and make it his BITCH!!!

Original Post:

Anyone who knows Larry Taylor knows he is first and foremost a father and a husband with music in his veins. Unfortunately this thing they call Covid has hit him hard and temporarily knocked him down. I have no doubt that Larry being the ROCKSTAR he is will beat this, but like everything else in life his condition is constantly changing. Two steps forward - One step back.

When Larry got sick, he of course thought it was just a cold or the flu, but that was not the case. He was hospitalized in just a few days and put on a ventilator within the week. Larry is fighting a great fight to come back to his wife, family and friends. With the current spike in Covid cases Nellie has only been able to see, talk, or touch Larry once for a very short period. Nellie was able to take music up to be played in his room and gets updates twice a day from the nurses.

Nellie continues to pray for him all day- every day because Larry is her soulmate - her person - her life. Nellie is relentless in her faith that the man she loves can do anything including kicking Covid's ASS!!! Being aware of how many people care about Larry, Nellie is updating his status for everyone daily (sometimes more) with text messages, phone calls, and Facebook posts to keep everyone informed.

While Larry is a Veteran with Vet benefits there will still be a lot of out of pocket expenses as Larry recovers both in the hospital and after he comes home. As with any serious illness it is a long road he is on with a lot of hard work ahead of him.

I have created this Go Fund me page to try and help lighten the financial burden this type of illness can cause and hopefully lesson the stress felt by Nellie and Larry as he heals and works to get back to the ROCKSTAR he is both physically and mentally. I personally cannot wait to see and hear him play music again and see the pure joy on his face when he looks at his wife while he holds and plays his guitar.

Being on the outside waiting and watching is hard for all that care about Larry - This to me gives us away to feel like we are doing something - something to help and show our love for a man who loves so many and is love by all that know him. You don't have to give much, but give if you can.
