On July 11, 2023, Mike walked into the ER with weakness. Within 48 hours, he was intubated and on life support. Everything was shutting down.

The diagnosis: Guillain-Barré Syndrome.

He endured plasmapheresis. IVIG. A coma. Machines breathing for him.

We prayed on our knees.

When insurance stopped covering care, the options were a nursing home… or home.

Mike and Mom chose home.

After a 30-minute crash course, Mom became his full-time nurse — managing a ventilator, feeding tube, pressure sores, medications, total care — all while advocating fiercely for his life. No breaks. No time for herself. Just love and grit.

And slowly… Mike began to come back.

Off the ventilator.

Breathing on his own.

Trach removed.

Feeding tube gone.

Smiling again.

Today, Mike is at Encompass Rehabilitation in Pensacola, building strength and independence. He’s been fitted for a power wheelchair.

That means he’s no longer tied to a bed.

He has the opportunity to live outside four walls.

But here’s the barrier:

He needs a dependable wheelchair-accessible vehicle.

Without it, rehab progress stays inside. Doctor visits are harder. Church, family gatherings, fishing trips, simply being part of life again — limited.

We are believing for mobility.

We are believing for freedom.
