Anxiety. Depression. Isolation. Domestic violence. Substance abuse. Eating disorders. Financial stress. Grief. The mental health impacts of COVID-19 are intense — and will last longer than the virus itself.
To raise funds for Mental Health under Lockdown and beyond, Zach and I are raising money for the Mental Health Fund. This fund aims to support the work of Crisis Text Line , Shout UK , Kids Help Phone , and SpunOut .ie, as they grow to meet the increased demand of people in pain. They offer 24/7 tech platforms where people can anonymously reach out and get support when in need. (see TED talk by CrisisTextLine ). You can apply to be a Crisis Volunteer, however the most urgent & life-threatening situations will be escalated (using smart computers) to crisis supervisors who are working full-time for these organisations.
This is important, since these cases sometimes require the assistance of the emergency services. The money raised will i.e. be used to employee these literal "life savers" ---> in the US alone this counts up to 18x per day. Not including Ireland, the UK and Canada. Imagine..
We will do this by cycling the height of Everest indoors for an estimated 16-20 hours, climbing 8860 meters of elevation - and it will be **livestreamed**.
DONATE TODAY , our goal is to raise €10 000 and Google will X2 the money raised** or Share this GoFundMe!

"Mental illness can happen to anyone, and it happened to me. Help should be accessible to anyone, everywhere, and these services do just that. Sometimes all it takes is someone to listen."-Jim. Mental Strength in Sports is a well documented skill that gives athletes an edge. It’s also a muscle that needs exercise. “The biggest challenge will be the one inside my head, Cycling 8860 meters for 16-20 hours is going to be a challenge to remember and I’m proud to be raising funds for these Organisations”.-Zach
