She has not allowed us to monetarily help her over this past year and a half with all her health issues but a new set back has hit and with her living alone (Miss Independent as usual), it has taken a toll that she needs some support to bounce back from.
Her story started with breast cancer in August 2017. It had moved to her local lymph nodes so the doctors opted for the most aggressive type of treatment. She made it through the 2 different rounds of chemo treatments with a couple hiccups and some lost time at work but she pushed through and tried to be there when she could. Then came radiation, this time it hit a little harder. Extreme fatigue, extensive burns and joint pain kept her from doing her job most days. And when we thought we made it to the other side because she is CANCER FREE (yay!), the lasting effects from the treatment reared it’s ugly head. So here we are almost 2 years later dealing with the aftermath of this illness.
Recently she had emergency surgery due to the radiation exploding a long ago implant and causing infection up in to her port. Along with this, she has been having many issues with her bones and joints in her shoulder and wrists. She was just diagnosed with carpal tunnel in both wrists that was exacerbated from treatment, as well as neuropathy. Since she uses her hands and arms extensively for work as a cardiac sonographer, it has left her unable to work. Mercy has been amazing accommodating the time off and assuring her job is there when she can go back, and believe me, this antsy woman WANTS to go back. But until then it has been many lost pay checks and medical bills stacking up, not only from the past but now the new procedures, surgeries, and testing she must undergo.
If you are able to contribute in any way...prayers, a listening ear, meals, or monetarily, I know it would be greatly appreciated and put to appropriate use. And I know that when she is able, she will be the first to repay the favor! Let’s get her put back together again and soon enough this will all be behind us! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
