Hi, I'm Megan but more importantly this sweet creature is little miss Luna Lovegood, Luna for short.
She came into my life back in 2020 during the pandemic and has been my best friend and greatest joy ever since. If you know her, you'll know I'm not lying when I say she is the sweetest most gentle animal to exist. She gives love like no other and there's never any shortage of affection to anyone she meets. To say I got lucky is an understatement, she's truly one of a kind. She's saved my life more times than I can count and I would do anything to save hers.
Over the past year we have both experienced a string of traumatic events from abusive relationships, resulting in a loss of my home, job, health, and her being wrongfully withheld from my care. For 4 months I was heartbroken and terrified, with no support and fighting to get her back. During those months I was systematically denied access, fed false information and kept in the dark about her well-being, claiming she was "happy and healthy" when in reality she was in extreme distress and had developed severe health issues to the point she was hospitalized. In my gut I knew something was wrong, but by the time I got the truth it was too late, her health had rapidly declined.
We were finally reunited in November 2024, and for the last few months Luna has undergone several vet visits, treatments and tests, with more to go. What started as an ear infection, has lead to concerns for cancer, heart disease and being diagnosed with chronic kidney disease. Luna is currently on medication, new food regime and scheduled to undergo a complete cardiac work up and a surgery for her ear. She has had an amazing team of Vets working to find answers and who have helped keep her comfortable and happy during this time.
What I had hoped would be a reunion of relief, has only prolonged our dire circumstances creating further affliction for us both. Despite my best efforts to get us back on our feet, it's been far too much to keep up with alone. So far, her health costs and vet bills have totaled $3500, and the estimated costs of cardio workup to be from $1500 - $2500 and the ear surgery $2200 - $3300.
This has been the most difficult time of our lives, but I'm hopeful her and I can make it through with some help. Any amount is greatly appreciated, and I will provide updates on her health as her treatment progresses. Happy share more of our story to those interested, but for now all we can say is thank you for your support and hopeful for Luna's successful recovery so she may live a long happy and healthy life. ❤️
UPDATES:
- Luna received great news regarding her cardiac workup, there were no further concerns there and she was given the green light to move forward with the ear surgery
- Luna was scheduled for the ear surgery on April 21st 2024, however during the first week of April she started showing more concerning symptoms, and upon a re-examination Luna was referred for a Neurology consult
- on April 16th, 2024 Luna was seen by a Neurologist and it was determined that she is showing clear signs of nerve damage and the possibility of a brain tumor. At this moment Luna is scheduled for an MRI on April 17th, 2024 in order to get a proper diagnosis. The MRI and accompanying treatments are estimated to cost $5800, not including any following treatments after.
- Luna's ear surgery has been postponed until we know more about her condition.
