Helping someone who always helped others!

We would like to donate a Disney Trip to Gary's family. Gary was loved and admired by everyone including his Shire/Takeda work family. Gary would be the first to help when you needed it, anytime of the day or night. Gary's devotion to his family and work is something we could all admire. Gary R. Wood, of Weymouth, passed away surrounded by his loving family on November 3, 2021 after a hard fought battle with cancer. He was 60. Gary was born in Weymouth and raised in Braintree. He joined the Navy directly out of high school and served for four years at various posts. He was also a member of the Army National Guard. Gary married his high school sweetheart Marianne and settled in Weymouth. He worked at Scalisi Marine, Gillette and Shire/Takeda Pharmaceuticals where he met many lifelong friends.

Gary was an avid outdoorsman. He loved fishing on his boat, hunting in NH, metal detecting along the beach, panning for gold and riding his ATV. He loved being at "camp" with his family and friends. You could always find him stopped on the side of the road for a good yard sale. Every year Gary could be found spreading holiday cheer as one of Santa's biggest helpers.

Gary was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He had every tool and gadget under the sun and was more than happy to lend or give it to you. He was completely devoted to his grandchildren and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with them. Gary was a member of Delta Lodge Braintree.

Loving husband of Marianne (Casey) Wood. Father of Danielle A. Wood and her fiancé, Phil Gelardi of Quincy, and Ashley L. Wood of Rockland. Brother of Sheryl Connors of Scituate, Danny Wood and his wife, Maryellen, of Sanbornton, NH, Donna Connors and her husband, Patrick, of Braintree, and Heather Ferguson and her husband, Blake, of Proctor, OK. Son of the late Albert E. and Marsha A. (MacDonald) Wood. Proud Papa of Ellana and Lucas Gelardi. Also survived by many in laws, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and many close friends.
