The Himalayan Climate & Science Institute needs your help to accomplish its biggest project yet. For the past year, we have been working to found the Phortse Automatic Weather Station Academy. This annual workshop will train Sherpa community members to maintain the world's highest weather stations across the Himalayas. The weather stations will directly support climate adaptation efforts to help the 1.5 billion people across Asia who rely on water from rapidly melting glaciers in the Himalayas.
To accomplish this goal, we are raising money to enable Senior Program Director Liam Torpy and HCSI Co-Founder Sonam Sherpa to 1) meet with Nepali governmental officials, scientists, and peer nonprofits and 2) lead a fundraising trek to Everest Base Camp this April. We need your help to make this fundraising trek possible. When you donate, you are unlocking significantly more funds for HCSI at a pivotal time in the organization's development and becoming a founding donor for the Phortse Weather Station Academy.
We appreciate the support and attention you have given HCSI as it has worked to provide community-based climate adaptation and economic development in Nepal. Any donation, big or small, is greatly appreciated. If you can't donate, you can make a huge difference by sharing this page.
