Support Andrea's Stroke Recovery Journey

Donation protected
Dear friends and family,

It is with heavy hearts and hopeful spirits that we reach out to you during this incredibly challenging time.

On February 14th, Andrea was hospitalized with familial hypertriglyceridemia, which led to acute pancreatitis. Her condition quickly worsened, and she was intubated on February 16th due to lung complications. Shortly after, her kidneys failed, and she was placed on dialysis. A lung infection further complicated her condition.

On the morning of February 21st, we were optimistic as Andrea's breathing tube was removed, and her kidneys were functioning again. However, we noticed she was disoriented and confused. Her care team assured us this was ICU delirium and would pass within a few days.

Concerned about her cognitive decline, I advocated for further testing on Saturday, February 22nd. By that afternoon, a CT scan revealed she had suffered a stroke. Andrea was only 32 years old, and the cause of the stroke remains unclear.

She was transferred to a hospital better equipped to manage her new diagnosis. Tragically, between Sunday morning and Monday morning, she suffered another stroke. We soon learned that the strokes had caused significant vision loss in her left eye. As a result, she was hospitalized for three weeks.

Anyone who knows Andrea knows how independent, fun, loud, and loving person she is. She is also a devoted stay-at-home mom to four beautiful children: Isa (9), Amara (6), and twins Leo and Luca (almost 3). Her husband, Jafet, has been by her side throughout this ordeal while also caring for their children.

Andrea's recovery will be long, and she will need a caregiver for the next month or two as she is at high risk for another stroke. She also faces numerous doctor visits and therapy sessions.

Thankfully, Andrea had health insurance during this time, but we need help as Jafet is out of work to care for her, their young children, and the house they recently purchased. We are seeking donations to help cover the cost of food, living expenses, and the mortgage.

Any support you can provide would be immensely appreciated.

With heartfelt gratitude,

Jennie
