Hi folks, thanks for reading.
On 12/31/2025, I was notified that my part-time non-profit job was closing its doors, effective immediately.
As working class people, we are often one emergency away from an eviction notice. This is that emergency.
Although part-time, this job made up about 40% of my income. It's made it possible for my family's house in San Francisco to remain intact, despite my elderly mother-in-law losing her job at the end of 2024. It's made it possible to take on a car note after my car's CVT transmission went out in October, when my other job & vending opportunities for my very small business rely on car access.
It's also made it possible to repay loans from over six months of furlough in 2024, and several more months of uncertain paycheck timing when the furlough ended (some weeks checks were paid on time, other weeks checks were paid up to a month late).
Right now, I am trying to fundraise for 3-4 months of missed income. I will not be receiving severance pay, and I do not know when my final check is coming, due to the organizational instability that led to the decision to shut down operations.
This goal will immediately ensure myself or my family's home is not at risk of displacement. It will also ensure that I am able to keep up payments on my credit card settlements and loan payments incurred to keep myself housed and fed during the 2024 furlough.
Things could be MUCH worse, and I am deeply grateful they are not! Operating from a place of abundance, and appreciate however folks are able to contribute and share.
