"Keep praying, I can't be without my gorgeous wife and two boys"--Cornel Coetzee
Heather and Cornel have longed to be parents for all of their relationship. Heather knew that due to medical complications that causes her to not ovulate, that without the help of an infertility specialist, conceiving would be less than likely. After she and Cornel were married, they decided to embark on the journey to start their family--and a journey it has been!
After multiple trips to the ER, admissions to the hospital due to complications after egg retrieval, bed rest, months of hormones and other medications and 2 failed IVF cycles, Heather and Cornel were elated to find out they were finally going to be parents of not one but 2 baby boys, Cayden and Camden.
Heather's pregnancy was going relatively well until she found out she had a subchorionic hemorrhage that threatened her pregnancy and baby boys. After reevaluation of medications and weeks of very close monitoring by her infertility doctor, this resolved. Too soon after one complication, another arises at 22 weeks and 3 days. Heather was showing signs of preterm labor and was taken to the ER only to find out her suspicion was true and that both babies were not likely to survive if born. If the babies were born at this point, they would be transferred to the Medical Center and while the doctors did not even want Heather talking, laughing, moving or doing anything to put stress on her body-- it was a chance worth taking to save their babies. She was transferred to the Texas Medical Center at almost 23 weeks so that she could be treated by the best possible team of medical professionals in Texas.
Today she is just a few hours shy of 24 weeks and we all have been praying so hard for her to get to this point--viabililty. Our prayers are being answered and he is listening! Cayden will more than likely be born soon as he is in the birth canal already and she is fully dilated. Heather's doctor is very impressed with her strength as well as her boys as are we! The group of physicians and medical professionals caring for Heather and her family are going to do the best they can to keep Camden from being delivered after his brother. We will not know the outcome of that until Cayden is born.
As we all know, babies born this early will need to be placed in the Neonatal Intensive Care unit (NICU) for severalmonths. If things go as we all are praying for, they will be in the hospital an hour away until at least Heather's due date, July 17th. The funds collected will be used to pay medical bills for Heather and both babies, any supplies or baby things they will need when coming home, and anything Heather and Cornel may need to survive during this very tough unexpected time. Due to her going into preterm labor and being on in-hospital bed rest, she had to take immediate leave of absence from work and was not even able to enjoy any baby showers that had been planned for her.
There is so much more to add about Heather and Cornel and the people they are and why this will mean so much to them--but I could honestly be here forever telling the story. In a nutshell, I can't think of anyone that deserves to be parents more than these two people and 2 boys that deserves to have parents like Heather and Cornel. My goal for this is to take as much of the burden off of Heather and Cornel as possible so they can focus on their 2 boys.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for this family the best possible chance to bring their boys home!
Please know that there are many uncertainties still and Heather and Cornel will not know any outcomes until long after both boys are delivered. I will provide updates as I get them from Cornel. Keep the prayers going!
