Hi we are Jessie and Chloe, friends and mega fans of Becca.

Rebecca Kirkaldy is a long time Sunshine Coaster, mum, wife, hardworking vegan food creator (Purely Planted Foods sold at the Sechelt Market and beyond), gardener, former nurse and all around spectacular human. Becca is married to Karl (you might recognize his rock solid singing voice from the local band Zonolite) and is mum to Kinley and Charlie, grades 2 and 3 at the Nest.

In March 2025, Becca was diagnosed with Triple Negative Invasive Ductal Carcinoma (an aggressive form of breast cancer). She has endured months of grueling chemotherapy causing multiple unpleasant side effects. Normally a force: next level energetic, social, always working, the first to help others, Becca has had to take a big step back. She is needing lots of rest and due to being immunocompromised, is having to homeschool the kids in addition to everything else on her full plate.

Becca has surgery scheduled in November in Vancouver on her 43rd birthday of all days. Following surgery recovery, Becca will need to be in Vancouver for several weeks to get radiation at BC Cancer Agency.

The costs associated with having and treating cancer can be crippling. Many medications, accommodation, parking and most of all loss of of income can lead to huge financial hardship, especially with a self-employed family.

During her treatment and recovery, Becca has had to hire more staff to run her beloved local labour of love, Purely Planted, in order to keep her business going. This means there is no margin to pay herself at this point and she has actually been going in the negative.
