Surgery bills for Bentley

Update on this big guy Bentley is 7 weeks out of surgery. Slow healing. They put him back on pain meds because he's not progressing through his healing as quickly as they would expect. He's still wobbly when he walks and is favoring one side. He's going in for some therapeutic massage/physical therapy today to help him loosen up the tightness in his legs. They're hoping this gets him on the road to quicker recovery. If this doesn't work they will do an updated xray to see if there is something else going on that's hindering his healing.

One step forward, he finally jumped on the couch today which is huge progress!!

Thank you again to everyone who helped financially to cover his medical bills. I am still out of a job so I'm finding small jobs here and there to try to cover the ongoing credit card payment for his surgery. With the emergency vet, meds, follow ups and PT, his bills are over $5k

Fingers crossed this works and he'll be back to normal soon

I don’t often ask for help, but right now I need to set aside my pride and reach out to the people who know and care about me.

This past Saturday, my sweet 2-year-old Maine Coon, Bentley, was taken to the emergency vet and diagnosed with two serious hip injuries — a fractured femoral head on the left side and femoral head necrosis on the right. He’s now facing FHO (Femoral Head Ostectomy) surgery, a procedure that will remove the damaged “ball” of his hip joints and allow him to walk again without pain.

I met with the surgeon today, the cost of the surgery is $4000. Bentley is resting at home on pain medication, he’s mostly sleeping — and I can tell he’s not himself. I’m doing everything I can to get him relief as soon as possible.

As many of you know, I’ve been unemployed for a few months and am actively job hunting, but I simply don’t have the funds to cover this unexpected emergency. If you know me, you know how much my animals mean to me — and Bentley is no exception. He’s full of personality, and I can’t bear to see him like this.

Any contribution, no matter how small, would help more than you know. If you’re not in a place to give, even just sharing this would mean the world.

Thank you from me and Bentley
