Kaitlin Elizabeth Horne, 19, of Tampa, FL passed away peacefully on November 2, 2014. Two Memorial services will be held. The first will be held at Our Lady of Providence Catholic Church on November 20, 2014, from 10:00-12:00 pm in St. Louis, MO. The second will be held at Lees Summit Community Christian on November 22, 2014, from 6:00PM-8:00PM in Lees Summit, MO. Kaitlin was born December 9, 1994 in Kansas City, MO as one of two beloved children to John and Katherine (Kolb) Horne. She was a 2013 graduate of Lees Summit West High School, Lees Summit MO. She attended Hillsborough Community College in Tampa, FL., studying Veterinary Medicine. Kaitlin adored her family and animals. She enjoyed spending time doing family activities from family reunions, sporting events, outings to Walt Disney World, or just watching movies. She was a member of City Life Church in Tampa. She had a wide variety of interests including music, movies, going to the beach, spending time with friends, and following the Tampa Bay Lightning or Rays sports. Kaitlin had a soft spot in her heart to help those less fortunate or offer words of encouragement to friends and family humbly and without boasting. The pride she held was for her God, her family, and her friends. She is survived by her paternal grandmother, Faye Kuester of Juno Beach, FL; maternal grandparents, Master Chief Robert Kolb and Phyllis Kolb of St. Louis, MO; parents John and Katherine Horne of the home; brother and “best friend” Christian Horne of Tampa, FL; She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Norman Kuester; and maternal grandmother, Marilyn Kolb. Other survivors include 3rd Class Petty Officer Courtney Naunheim, a cousin who was truly her “sister” of St. Louis, MO; Gustavo Lebron, her best friend in Tampa, FL; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, all special in her heart. The family encourages contributions to the Kaitlin Horne Memorial Fund, proceeds going to multiple animal rescue organizations in her name.
