HBOT treatment fund for Josh Cokefair

Hi, my name is Ashley and I am Josh Cokefair's oldest sister. I have created this fundraiser for Josh, and his fiance Kerry McWilliams, who both are firefighter/paramedics.

For those of you who do not know, in Sept of 2022 Josh suffered numerous injuries from a hose rupture while firehose testing at Grayslake Fire Dept. His injuries range from broken bones, a skull fracture, a ruptured ear drum, and traumatic brain injury. Since Josh is still experiencing side effects of the TBI, he will be heading to Louisiana to receive Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy or HBOT. HBOT is a specialized oxygen treatment that enhances your body’s natural healing process just by breathing 100% oxygen in a total body chamber where atmospheric pressure is increased and controlled. Both the increased pressure and the increased oxygen are bioactive and have independent, overlapping, and interactive effects on our body and disease processes. The increased oxygen and pressure allow for extra oxygen to reach all of the damaged tissues and helps the brain in the healing process. Dr. Harch is the best in the field, treats over 100 different conditions including brain injury, and comes highly recommended. Josh and Kerry will be heading to Louisiana in the next few weeks and plan to be there for about two months.

Funds raised will go directly to Josh and Kerry. HBOT is not covered by insurance and is estimated to cost about $30,000. Funds will also go toward traveling and housing costs and help with extra living expenses. Any funds left over will be put into a fund Josh is creating to be able to help other firefighters/paramedics receive the same treatment. His goal is to raise awareness for these types of injuries that FF/paramedics may suffer on the job and allow for treatment to be more easily accessible for those who need it.
