My name is Luis Hernandez and I suffered a cervical spinal cord injury in a car accident back on March 17th, 2023. My wife and I flipped in the vehicle one time after our brake system gave out while we were on the way to work at around 9:30 that morning. I fractured C5-C6 and I ended up paraplegic, unable to walk well, and use a wheelchair to get around. I was told by my doctors that I have a good chance of walking again if I get stem cell therapy. I have what is known as an incomplete spinal cord injury, which allows for some signals to get through, and because of that, stem cell therapy would get me back on my feet. There are 2 types of stem cells: there's autologous and mesenchymal. Usually, autologous stem cells are retrieved from your own bone marrow, centrifuged out from there, and applied to the injury site and intravenously. It is usually cheaper at $6,400.00. The only thing is, at my age, 49, my stem cells may not be as effective. My injury will require mesenchymal stem cells with exosomes, which is a bit more expensive but effective for these types of injuries, usually around $10,000-$12,000 for all the applications, depending on how many stem cells need to be used, which usually falls in the tens of millions. My wife and I will be traveling there and back so we will also have to cover food and gas.
We are looking to raise $12,000 to pay for this treatment and expenses so I can walk again. This procedure will be taking place in Mexico since the pharma industry has a grip on the US government and is overly regulated. We have researched stem cell clinics in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, and have found some really good clinics there. I live in Brownsville, TX, which makes it a 3-hour drive to Monterrey, Mexico. We will be updating the process as we go along with details of the clinic and phone number so if anybody wants to call and verify, since all cell phone providers have free calling into Mexico.
Please find it in your heart to donate; anything helps. Thank you all for taking the time to read this story, and may God bless you all.
