As you may know, my dear husband Henry "Bernard" Dotson, III was diagnosed with an aggressive form of Multiple Myeloma in July of 2015. I was devastated but Henry said "Why not me. I am no one special." Well, I, along with many others, do not agree. Henry is VERY special! He is God-fearing, caring, intelligent and full of life. His hearts desire is to really get to know everyone that he comes in contact with on a deeper level...not just a superficial level. Henry and I are determined to fight this disease with God's help and your prayers.
Many have asked "how else can I help". We have to take this fight one day at a time so we are not totally sure of what we will need going forward. But one thing that we do know is that, on paper, we are not financially prepared to cover the costs that will come up during the fight. Research shows that Multiple Myeloma is one of the most expensive cancers to treat. So, if you are lead to do so, please help by donating to this account.
We have been walking by faith financially for almost a year. In October of 2014, Henry was laid off from Southern California Edison. In January of 2015, Henry started his own business as a consultant for the utility industry. Although the layoff was not planned, Henry has wanted to start his own business for a while...so the faith walk began. Our income was more than cut in half but we were not able to change our expenses much.
In May/June of 2015, Henry was blessed with his first 2 contracts. However, now with the diagnosis in July, it may be a while before Henry will be able to work again...which is fine. The #1 goal is for Henry to get well.
Fortunately, we have insurance that will cover some of the costs associated with Henry's care. However, we have a large out-of-pocket requirement that must be met before the costs are covered. In addition, I am expecting prescription costs, lab costs, treatment costs, travel costs, possibly home services and medical equipment costs, etc..
Receiving money in this form is not in my comfort zone. I never thought about setting this account up until a good friend suggested it. It then took me a while to agree. But I have learned from our missionary fundraising activities that sometimes you have to get out of your comfort zone to allow others to receive their blessings. So if you are so lead, please support our fight financially. Please know that we appreciate and love you regardless of what you are able to donate.
Thank you for your continued prayers for my best friend and husband...Henry "Bernard" Dotson, III!
