PHS-HBCUs are faithful friends!

Where is your HBCU student ID?

Dear Friends,
Greetings from the Hawes Family! It is our great honor to announce that our oldest son, Joseph Hawes, graduated Cum Laude from Howard University on Saturday, May 11, 2019. It was so moving to see him cross Howard University’s main Quadrangle the way that so many friends, relatives, and great African-Americans have done before him... including his mother (Edwina Jones Hawes, Ph.D.) and his grandmother (Alcye Hawes, DDS).
Joe’s time at Howard University has been transformative. He entered an eager and excited teenager and emerged a well-traveled, and well-rounded intellectual who is currently within weeks of entering medical school.
Joe’s graduation immediately inspired us to dig deeper into our support of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). The Monday after his graduation, we decided to create an HBCU scholarship for the 2019 graduating class of Princeton High School (PHS). With the support of the community, the HBCU Award will be presented on ...
June 12, 2019, at 7:00 PM,
during the Senior Awards Night in the PHS Performing Arts Center.
This year PHS will be sending four students to HBCUs! Next year, we plan to have the incentives of a 501(c)(3) or applicable tax deductions, but for now, we are motivated by the incentives of our heart. If you feel as we do, an immediate need to encourage and celebrate students who attend an HBCU, then please join us! That being said, please feel free to send a contribution of any amount via Paypal in care of [email redacted] (notating HBCU) or using Gofundme (gofundme.com/hbcu-scholarship-for-phs ). All funds will go directly to the award recipient(s). The awardee(s) will get a listing of the Donors and we will send out an update on the HBCU Award totals and presentation shortly after the ceremony.
Again, we would love to have you join us for the inaugural presentation in person or through any donation that your heart leads you. Please feel free to contact me (Edwina) if you have any questions. Thank you for your time and support of HBCUs!
Sincerely,
Edwina and Ruppert “Tony” Hawes
