Our granddaughter, Elyse, has been having seizures for the last few months. She went to a neurosurgeon to learn the cause of the seizures. After several tests, it was discovered she has a benign tumor on the temporal lobe of her brain, which is the cause of her seizures. Elyse was born with a condition called Neurofibromatosis 1 (NF1) which is the source of this tumor. The only solution to stop the seizures and to stop the tumor from becoming larger and seriously affecting parts of her day to day abilities, such as speech, language, and vision, she has to undergo brain surgery to have the tumor removed. She and her husband, Phil, reside in Utah. However, Elyse is having all these procedures done in Connecticut for insurance reasons, so they are living apart until she is fully recovered. Since they are recently married, their funds are very limited and their insurance carries a very high deductible and is very limited in its coverage. Several MRI’s and consultations have already been out-of-pocket. Because of the high costs of doctor visits, testing and surgery, (including travel for her husband to be with her for the surgery) the expenses will be much more than they can cover on their own. If you feel it in your heart, if you can contribute to help them out, it would be greatly appreciated. Any amount will be helpful. Thank you, in advance.
